Renewable Diesel

  •  Functionally identical to diesel fuel (see ASTM D975 and D396).  

Renewable Diesel is chemically distinct from Biodiesel (ASTM D6751), and has a higher energy value (44 vs 38 MJ/kg).

Hydrochar

  •  A high-carbon solid which is an obligatory co-product of the hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL) process by which the renewable diesel is generated.  

  • Commercial markets for hydrochar are in development and anticipated to be similar to the market for biochar made from pyrolysis.
